We hope you enjoy our new mural!

You’re probably wondering what it’s all about?? Well, we don’t want to say too much because it’s better for you to discover! If you want a little hint, you can read Matthew 13:31-32 and Isaiah 11:1-9.

At Faith Reformed, we want to be people who are captured by these visions of God’s Kingdom—visions of goodness, truth, and beauty. We hope the mural not only adds beauty to the community, but also evokes wonder about God’s goodness & truth.

The main creator is Joel Schoon-Tanis, a celebrated artist and painter who strives to view the world through a child-like lens—full of color, whimsy, and honesty. He wants to help others unlock a sense of child-like wonder about God’s world. He is known for juxtaposing realistic images and child-like drawings & text to explore God’s creation and stories from a new perspective. Joel was assisted on this project by many children!! … Oh, and also the talented Megan Boes from Holland, Michigan and Michael Novak, a Traverse City native. Michael is a part of the congregation here at Faith. He is known for his drawing and portraiture. Although his main medium is charcoal, he found working with colorful paints on a large scale to be a fun departure from his regular style. To see more of Mike’s artwork click here.
