Randy Burgess serves as Director of Missions, Outreach and Caring Ministries at FRC. He spent 20 years working in the private sector before being called by God to full-time ministry, serving as His hands and feet in the community.
With his approachable demeanor and desire to listen on a deep level, Randy is a trustworthy friend to everyone he meets. A verse to epitomize Randy’s approach to ministry is Micah 6:8, “and what does the Lord require of you: to act justly, to love faithfulness and to walk humbly with your God.” Randy seeks to meet people where they are and share God’s unconditional love with them. A favorite book that speaks to this outlook is Barking to the Choir: The Power of Radical Kinship by Fr Gregory Boyle.
The son of a pastor, Randy’s family moved five times before he entered middle school. His family finally settled in Traverse City, which quickly became home. Randy met his wife Joan here and they raised three sons and are now proud grandparents.
